The General Arrangement (GA) is the single most important document in a project as it forms the basis for all further work within all disciplines. The development of a GA encompasses knowledge of basically all functions of a floating structure. Artist Impressions are closely related to the GA and are used for marketing purposes as well as visualizing functions of a Unit in both pictures and movies.
Hull Sizing relates to the development of a floating structure with sufficient load carrying capacity as well as stability. Hull Sizing is an activity performed in cooperation with the Stability and Hydrodynamics Group.
Safety relates to all Technical Safety, Environmental and Working Condition aspects of a marine structure. Focus is on Client requirements, Rules and Regulations and future developments within the Safety and Environmental area.
Weight Control is an activity that follows a project from the very start at Concept development up to delivery and installation of the finished marine structure. For a floating structure Weight Control focuses not only on weight but also on center of gravity which is of utmost importance for stability and operability issues. Weight Control is not only follow-up activities but action related in the sense of taking active control in managing weight and center of gravity.
Marine Outfitting works with all internal and external layouts of helideck, platforms, stairs and ladders and fixed mooring components.
Together with the GA the Technical Specification describes the overall function for all systems and components of a marine structure. The Technical Specification is a comprehensive document compiled of input from all disciplines involved in a project. The Technical Specification is usually a contractual binding document between a Client and a Fabricator and is thus considered as one of the main project documents.
